I forgot...
I also plan on learning how to post videos on You-Tube and subsequently on here. I also need to get on the ball and learn how to personalize my blog page. Surely none of these are too difficult but they do require time, something I have very little to spare... I guess that will go back to Time Management...

Boring blatherings
Well, I think I am pretty much recovered thank God! I am NOT a good sick person. We went out yesterday. Our first stop was Suburban Propane to sign our contract and give them a $350 check - UGH! However, if we want to continue to have heat, hot water, and use our stove I guess we'll just have to chalk it up to a necessity. They came out Wed. or Thurs. last week and filled up our tanks, we have 2 huge tanks (50 gallons apiece I think) which of course were almost empty... We've been trying to have it done every since we closed on the cabin- we've spent quite a bit of time here the past few months and thankfully haven't run out of gas. The whole operation seems rather incompentent. I'm glad it seems to be straightened out.
We stopped at Rite Aid looking for the elusive blue icicle lights ( I always get my way!) ended up buying a 6 foot white tree to have up here it was only $5, and will take up so much less room than my 7 foot tree that is extremely full and only breaks down into 3 large pieces... Storage is a major consideration here- to say the least! Of course I didn't realize until after the fact that it isn't prelit like the white trees the girls got, and lights on white wires are almost impossible to find. Oh well, I have a year... The Christmas Mouse had some: $10 for 100 lights- yeah right!. I'm thinking the Christmas shop at the Pottery might have them (everything is 50% off) we went yesterday but they were closed for inventory! Bummer- maybe I'll try again today.
I also need to do laundry, I can't believe that I haven't washed a load of clothes in over a week- that is unbelievable to me. At home I do laundry everyday- I think I'm getting ready to pay the price for my slackness though! Although- this place is pretty much deserted, there are 4 machines in the laundry room, maybe I'll get lucky and can use all 4 at one time!
Hoping the weather will be nice today- I would LOVE to get my sconces spraypainted.

Lame Christmas Tradition...
Some of the ladies in Dad's office told him about these "traditional Christmas Poppers" Sorry I didn't get a picture of the actual popper. Basically each person grabs an end and pulls- 1 person will get a prize. We took it outside thinking it would be messy- confetti filled and make a big noise- hence the name "POPPER"- no noise, no confetti, only a tiny boring pencil sharpener and a plastic bag crown. Talk about disappointing! Obviously this will NOT become one of our holiday traditions!

Sorry I've been MIA
Here is a quick run down of the past week:
Tuesday: Scrapbook Club went well- I think the girls might have Scrapbooked for 20 minutes total- oh well. It's basically a social thing anyway. We ended up leaving about 4 which put us driving a considerable distance in the dark (yuck) we had to drive both vehicles b/c we have way too much junk, and with Elton having to work the 2nd and 3rd... Thought Brianna came down with Chicken Pox- she was all splotchy and itchy for about 12 hours and then it was gone. Trying to remember if she had the C.P. vaccine, thats the only explanation I can think of. Called the Pediatricians office but they were closed.
Wednesday: Dad & Janet went shopping and took C & K with them. I finished unpacking and E. put my blue icicle lights on the deck railings- I'm trying to talk him into putting them around the top too (thats where he had to put them on Dad and Js cabin- they don't have porch railings) He thinks it would be tacky since they will be up all year. We're camping different rules apply... I haven't given up yet. He also put up the new porch lights we bought from Lowes - I LOVE them! I'll try to post a picture today. Bear in mind he had to add 2 pieces of wood and some clear silicone which will have to be painted as soon as ODW comes off with the matching paint they promised. We went to Wal-mart about 5:45- it never even crossed my mind that it was Christmas Eve and they would be closing at 6- we hurried and tried to get all we needed. It sucked. It was really crowded and Wal-mart had been cleaned out- I have never seen shelves so bare! We had a bonfire when we got home- it was nice. Oh - I forgot- Elton had a cord of wood delivered Wed. morning- no more spending $6 on a tiny bundle of wood or sending Chris scavenging through the woods! Thanks to my brilliant husband!
Thursday-
Christmas at D&J's, cooked all day. These stoves are so tiny! We had a big breakfast, and as soon as we finished with that we had to start on Christmas Dinner.
Friday-
After Christmas sales! Went to Target, Wal-mart, K-mart, Home Depot. Have decided to bring up my 7 foot tree next year- bought all the stuff I'll need- it will all be blue, white, and silver. Even got the tree skirt and topper. The topper is a big silver snowflake- perfect! Went home ate leftovers and laid down with Shawn who was fussy, and just that quick realize that I am SICK! Fever, swollen glands (like you can actually see them they're so swollen!) and the sorest throat I've ever had. I've pretty much been in bed since Friday night yuck! Feeling a whole lot better today- hopefully will do something worth blogging about!

Our (early) Christmas
We made an Elton tree! LOL! Thats what happens when you fall asleep around here!
Shawny with his new "Big Boy Sippy Cup". He gets very frustrated with it... I use the bottles with the bags inside of them, so he's not used to having to turn them up. I may just put it away for a few more weeks and re-introduce it..
Chris, looking as tired as I feel. Notice the Monster Energy drink- it was in his stocking, normally I do not approve, but it was Christmas. If I had had a couple of those I may have made it through Christmas Day without a 4 hour nap! I could never imagine that my kids would actually let me sleep that long. It was a Christmas Miracle! LOL. I'm sure they knew that if they woke me up I would make them help me clean up!
Brianna with her new Ford Mustang convertible. Her "Hot Momma" car LOL. Sorry I don't have a better pic but I was too tired to get off the couch. It is awesome- you turn the key and it sounds like the engine is revving up and the radio works etc. They've come a long way since Chris's blue jeep 12 years ago! We would have gotten her pink, but since Shawn is coming up right behind her we decided to go with the unisex color. Poor BriBri- making sacrifices already!

Elton's Party Pictures

Feast or Famine...
I either blog obsessively or not at all... I guess you have to make hay while the sun shines. I don't have time to say much- been really busy. Sat. night we had Elton's (37th) Birthday party/ Christmas party since we aren't going to be here for Christmas. Sunday was Christmas- well at least it was at our house! Did Christmas with E's mom. I thought I was done with my Christmas shopping but ended up doing hers too. NOT that I mind- that way the kids get what they want/need. I also ended up wrapping it all, taking it all to her house, we picked up dinner on the way and then had to drag all the junk home... Sometimes our life is just WAY too overcomplicated. Why not just have Elton pick her up and bring her over here... She lives in a tiny little trailer- there isn't even room for us all to sit down. I refuse to put the baby on the floor, so of course he has to be entertained every moment we're there.... GRRRR. Oh well, Christmas is only once a year right??? Today I'm cleaning, washing and packing, trying to frantically get ready to go to VA tomorrow... We're hosting Katherine's Scrapbooking Club's Christmas Party tomorrow from 12-2. That is the last of our obligations until next year! ;0) Yeah!

Scars of Life
Some years ago,
on a hot summer day
in South Florida ,
a little boy decided to go
for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house.
In a hurry to dive into
the cool water,
he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.
He flew into the water,
not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.
His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer together.
In utter fear,
he ran toward the water,
yelling to his son as loudly
as he could.
Hearing his voice,
the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn
to swim to his father.
It was too late.
Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him.
>From the dock,
the father grabbed his little boy by the arms
just as the alligator
snatched his legs.
That began an incredible
tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the father,
but the father was much
too passionate to let go.
A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams,
raced from his truck,
took aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital,
the little boy survived.
His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack
of the animal.
And, on his arms,
were deep scratches
where his father's fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort
to hang on to the son he loved.
The newspaper reporter
who interviewed the boy
after the trauma,
asked if he would
show him his scars.
The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter,
'But look at my arms.
I have great scars
on my arms, too.
I have them because
my Dad wouldn't let go.'
You and I can identify
with that little boy.
We have scars, too.
No, not from an alligator,
but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars
are unsightly and have
caused us deep regret.
But, some wounds,
my friend,
are because God has refused
to let go.
In the midst of your struggle, He's been there
holding on to you.
The Scripture teaches that
God loves you.
You are a child of God.
He wants to protect you
and
provide for you in every way. But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life
is filled with peril -
and we forget
that the enemy is waiting
to attack.
That's when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have
the scars of His love
on your arms,
be very, very grateful.
He did not and will not ever let you go.
Please pass this on
to those you love.
God has blessed you,
so that you
can be
a blessing to others.
You just never know
where
a person is in his/her life
and
what they are going through. Never judge another
person's scars,
because you don't know
how they got them.
Also,
it is so important that
we are not selfish,
to receive the blessings
of these messages,
without forwarding them
to someone else.
Right now,
someone needs to know that God loves them,
and you love them, too -
enough to not let them go .
Always
Tell Your Family
And Friends
How Much
You Love Them!!!
FRIENDS
ARE
ANGELS WHO LIFT US TO OUR FEET
WHEN OUR WINGS HAVE TROUBLE REMEMBERING HOW TO Fly
Thanks to Katherine for sharing this email! Love you!
