I have read that in some cultures dragonflies are considered a sign of good luck- especially if they land on you. I know nothing of the supposed significance of butterflys (I'll have to research it in my nonexistant free time!) Saturday morning, we were outside (watching the satellite people try to find a signal through all the trees) and this crazy butterfly would land on Elton- hang out for a while, fly away for a minute, and then come back. It was really bizarre- I've never seen anything like it! I was thinking that it was possibly attracted to his red shirt (like a hummingbird) but it never once landed on it. It must have lasted about 20 minutes.
BTW- the satellite people were FINALLY able to get a signal- they were there for 4 hours Saturday! Different people (more experienced?) came out Sunday and stayed a couple of hours. My husband is a happy man now. I have to admit that it was cool to be able to watch Desperate Housewives and the Weather Channel!
