Today while I was browsing around Books A Million I came across a little book entitled Why I live in North Carolina. I was waiting for Elton so I decided to flip through it. There were some reasons that were expected: The Outer Banks, Lighthouses, Venus Fly traps, some of the funnier reasons included: we're a safe distance from New York and California, Rules of grammer are subject to individual interpretation, We done in Blackbeard (and don't y'all forget it), When you go to the ABC store they ask about your family (the ABC store is the only place you can buy liquor in NC), We invented the ever versatile word "fixin", and even the most gourmet grocery stores sell live bait.
