Today we went to the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. It's a nice place, but I guess we are just spoiled after the NC Zoo- which is FAR superior. Brianna was so geeked up about seeing the tigers, and they had one- which was sleeping... She loved the spider monkeys though- they had a really nice set up for those, and they were actually interacting with her through the glass. Elton and I really liked the giraffes, I don't think I've ever been that close to one before- they really are beautiful. Katherine had the most fun chasing after the peacocks (a game Brianna started- she loves to chase birds and squirrels! ;0) ) and playing on the huge rope spider web they had set up in the farmyard area. The drive to Norfolk wasn't that bad- 40 miles tops, but we got stuck in traffic jams @ the Hampton tunnel both coming and going :0( I think we'll stick with the NC Zoo from now on, even though Asheboro is about 2 1/2 hours from our house. Maybe we'll be able to go this fall, when the weather is nice (Asheboro is soooo hilly- spring and fall destination only!) It was a nice change of pace though, we've done Busch Gardens the past 2 days. The weather would be perfect for Virginia Beach, but we'll save that outing for when Chris is with us in a couple of weeks for Spring Break. Somehow I don't think he minds missing the Zoo! Another big outing and no accidents- way to go BriBri! I think she's really got the hang of this potty thing- thank God! I don't want 2 in diapers! LOL!
We watched "Into the Wild" last night. It was kind of long, but a really interesting story nonetheless. I think I will read it and see how the book compares to the movie. Movies have a tendency to overromantisize things, and from what I read on the internet this morning, he wasn't nearly as prepared as they portrayed him to be...
We are currently watching Two Brothers- about 2 tiger cubs who are seperated and later reunited- SNOOZER! Even Katherine appears to have lost interest... Bri is sleeping, and has been since the ride home from the zoo- hopefully will remain that way until tomorrow morning! Poor thing- she has played hard today!
